So I Finally Watched...

The blog has again had to take a backseat for the last week or so, buddies. Thank goodness for my back-up reviews and posts - you probably didn't even notice that I was gone! That's cool, though, it's part of my evil plan and you all played your parts well.

Seriously, though. Since some time last week my head has been completely taken over by a certain TV show that for some reason took me a fucking long time to finally watch.

Of course I'm talking about

Don't ask me why I never watched it until now. As a horror fan and zombie lover, I should have been on this show like white on rice the second it premiered, but I just... didn't. And then it was staring at me on Netflix for months until I finally pushed play (some goading from people at work convinced me to watch it too).

HOLY FUCK, YOU GUYS, THIS IS THE BEST SHOW EVER.

I mean, my brain is just going cray-cray with all the awesomeness floating around in it from The Walking Dead. I plowed through all the seasons (even resorted to purchasing each episode of season 3 on Amazon Instant Video) so I could get caught up with everyone else and now the season finale is tonight - actually it was a few hours ago - but I'm not sure when I'm going to get to see it, so goddamnit, don't tell me anything!

One thing I actually really like but sorta hate about The Walking Dead at the same time is that it is probably the most stressful TV show I have ever watched. I knew nothing of the characters or the story or the graphic novels so each new scene where it looks like one of our characters is in even the least bit of danger completely stresses me out until the issue is resolved. Carl shot? Daryl shot? Dale attacked? Rick and Shane trapped? I was a fucking nervous wreck each time. Of course things didn't always turn out the way I wanted. I went to bed all pissed off one night after I watched Dale's last episode. I should've expected the stress, though, because of course no one can be safe in a zombie apocalypse.

Character breakdown: I love Glenn, Carol, T-Dog, Dale, Daryl, Shane (YES, I loved Shane even when he was crazy because I understood him), and eventually I came to love Hershel and Maggie. Not so favorites include Andrea, Rick, Lori, and everyone from Woodbury. Weird choices? I know. I always seem to gravitate toward or zero in on the characters that you're not really supposed to like or care about all that much, and usually end up hating the characters that you are supposed to like, like Rick. Seriously, the man talks too much and he couldn't finesse his way out of a sticky situation if his life depended on it - and his life is always depending on it because he always makes the wrong decisions.

And yes, because I am a girl and was already a fan of Norman Reedus before this show, Daryl Dixon is my favorite (and the best) character on the show.

Oh baby, show me your crossbow!

I must have watched the almost-all-Daryl episode from season 2, "Chupacabra," three times already. Love his scenes there and also most of the stuff he did with Michael Rooker in season 3. He's a hard cat to dance with on screen, but Norman totally held his own and gives us some great moments for the character. This whirlwind love affair with The Walking Dead might be over quickly though, if Daryl dies. But he's such a fan favorite that I really can't see that happening... I hope.

So much more to say about the show but I need to get off the Internet before I accidentally find out what happened in the season finale while looking stuff up. Please discuss The Walking Dead with me in the comments, I would really like some discussion.

*EDIT* Okay, apparently last night's episode was NOT the season finale. Gotta wait another week again.
